High Street Kensington Girl was originally written around the time of 'Space Beacon Earth' when I was 23 in 2009. I always tried to write pop songs for the group, and then something more experimental as a sort of b side. Following getting the Joe Meek E.P. collection last year. I thought wouldn't it be fun to make this song like a Joe Meek production, when Joe was at his most poppy, think John Leyton etc! using some of his production tricks in the process, as a sort of homage! Party like it's 1961!
