Mountain Surfing was recorded in August 2022. It was composed and recorded around the same time. It's essentially 'The Pulse of Space pt.1' rearranged for piano with strings as accompaniment. At the time of recording this 'the Pulse of Space' was a 30 minute long synthesiser track which I had composed and had considered using in return to some sort of live arena (or even record live). I was also working out how to record the synthesiser. Eventually I recorded all 30 minutes of 'The Pulse of Space' live in my living room. Once recorded I decided to edit The Pulse of Space into separate tracks as I felt the 30 minute long version didn't really work.

The piano version of 'the Pulse of Space Pt.1' was recorded after watching 'Nosferatu-the Vampyre' (1979), the soundtrack by Popol Vuh I was familiar with and really liked. I was inspired by the idea of freedom represented by the landscape on the walk from Wismar Germany to Transylvania in Romania, hence the title 'Mountain Surfing' (surfing from mountain to mountain through waterfalls and over peaks).
