about

So this is the fourth part of 'The International Aquarium' and one in which we seek to climb inside 'The Rainbow Equator' for a trip around the world aquatic.

This track is a contrast to the very typically progressive orientation of the last two sections in that it could possibly be considered minimalist for much of its running time. Travelling the rainbow equator utilises the arpeggiator tool on my Roland Fantom. Using the notes that formed the basis for the motif 'The Rainbow Equator' during part 3 of this musical adventure to 'The International Aquarium' to trigger arpeggios.

Using the arpeggiator leads to a sound that would be impossible to achieve by playing arpeggios directly being always exact when triggered (more so than any human could be). The repetitive music should become practically spiritual after a while as the repeating arpeggio is accompanied by my self programmed synthesiser sounds which includes a Moog bass which I added white noise too. The patterns that make up this track are supposed to illustrate the image of a rainbow or travelling through a tunnel of colours. This references Terry Riley's 'Rainbow In Curved Air' (a pioneering minimalist composition and album). I have often noticed that music like Can's 'Future Days' and Manuel Goettsching's 'Inventions For The Electric Guitar' and Mike Oldfield and loads of others which have a loose aesthetic of repetition often have synaesthetic properties .Regardless travel the primary colours of sound with this little track then and have a good'un....New track from me !
